P.B.& J. (The Paige and Blake Journey)

Forgive me father for it's been nearly a week since my last confession....Tee Hee Hee. Yes, I can't believe it's been nearly a week since my last blog. I'll have to do a summary for y'all.

Wednesday - Work all day, supper at my mom's.
Thursday - Work all day, then head out to Mulhurst to set up for camping, drive home, sleep.
Friday - Work all day, then head out to Mulhurst for camping all weekend.
Saturday - Camping. What a fun time, mixed with shitty weather. I think we are cursed for rain. If the farmers need rain, all they'll have to do is ask us to go camping. Not once this year have we been able to go camping and get nice weather! Paige sampled all the various empties laying about our campsite, but the Bacardi Breezer was her favorite! That's momma's girl!

Unfortunetly I had to return home in the wee hours of the morning with her Sunday as the little weasel decided that 3am would be the time she woke up - and wouldn't go back to sleep. She cried and cried - and was very unhappy. I just couldn't stay there with all our friends in tents feet away from our tent. So Paige and I drove home at 5:30am. She fell back asleep in the car, and we were both home and in our beds by 7am. What a night.

Yesterday I started to feel crummy. I just thought it was the lack of sleep, so I accepted it. Went to bed early - well, that's not the case. This morning I woke up with a massive headache, sore throat and congested sinuses. So I am blessed with a sinus infection.

I am going to get dressed, feed and dress Paige and we are heading to WEM. I am in search of a Matron of Honour dress...so I am guessing we'll be there all day. I am first going to drown myself in some Advil Cold and Sinus. Wish me luck!!!

My cousin called me from Ontario (the one that is getting married in August) and asked me to be her Matron of Honour! I am so shocked!! I haven't seen her in years, but we still remain somewhat close. I am so touched! I asked what to do about a dress, and she said she got the bridesmaid's dresses at Fairweather and would email me a picture. She said if I can't get the same dress it's okay, as long as it's the same color and type of fabric. I will try Fairweather and see what happens.

I am so thrilled..and honoured!!!

When I woke up this morning, I was thinking of things to update my blog with, but everything I think of is almost a whine about something or boring. So...do you want to hear it anyways??? If not, stop reading.

A. Why must Darren forget to shut his alarm clock off after he decides to hit snooze, then get up anyway and LEAVE for work? Normally this wouldn't be a problem, however today is my day off, and I worked 14 hrs yesterday. I really did not want to be awoken at 6am. I was SOOO looking forward to sleeping in.

B. Why does costruction have to start at 7am on new homes? I was just drifting back to sleep.....and I hear "bang, bang, bang....zzzzzzzz(saw noise).....zzzzzzzzzzz(drill noise) bang, bang, bang" Repeat this series of sounds until 8am where I now find myself. Laying in bed wishing I could close the windows...but it's too damn hot!!!

C. Why when I have days off of work do I actually manage to get a productive task in. For example, laundry, cleaning the bathrooms, doing the floors, cleaning the living room, or putting up a wall fixture. HOWEVER, when Darren has the day off - it's completely the "DAY OFF"??? How is this fair. Damn. Is this what being a mother is all about?

Really is sounds like I am in a bad mood, but I am not. Just wanted to get those things off my chest. I feel pretty tired, but I am planning on having a good day with my little angel. I took her to a photographers on Tuesday, and I have the most amazing shots of her. I will go with the negatives sometime this week and get them put to disk so I can show you all some.

AND - Yeah!!! Camping this weekend. I can't wait. Who's all in?? Come one come all!!!

I took my neice and nephew to the park on Wednesday night, and I captured the best shots of them jumping off the swings...hope their mother doesn't have a heart attack looking at these photos!!!

My daughter loves shoes!!! Her favorite pair is my fake-Crocs...Pink of course!!! She always takes them from the front door (if I don't put them in the closet) and plays with them when ever she can.

Another late night. I worked all day 7am-7pm, but didn't get to leave the hosptial unil 8pm 'ish. I was so busy there at the end of my shift. It's so sad some of the people's situations that precipitate them ending up in our hospital. I can't say because of confidentiality, but I know one thing's for certain. I know how I do NOT want to die. I think it's sad the lengths we are going to keep some people alive....what are some family members thinking? I don't know. I've never had to make that call, so I guess I shouldn't judge. I'm just saying - when it comes time for me to die. I want to do it peacefully.

I am so happy my family has all expressed how they feel about death, how they want to die, what they want to be kept alive for, and what they want done with their bodies when they die. I know you are thinking "How morbid!!!" But really, it sure saves a lot of grief and arguements when unexpectedly (cause they always are) when the time comes to make medical decisions on one's family member's care.

Please, discuss death and dying with your family. It's not morbid, it's important. REALLY important.

My Morning....

I was awakened by Paige cooing gently in her crib at 8:06am - I am supposed to drop Paige off at the dayhome at 7:30am if that tells you how far I was behind! I showered in 2 minutes, dressed in 15 seconds, grabbed Paige from her crib and headed out to the dayhome. I called Amber and warned her that I was SOO SORRY, but I was dropping Paige off with a dirty bum, in her PJ's and not fed. I got there and threw Paige at her, handed her her clothes and ran back to my car. I drove 110km/hr down the Whitemud. Luckily I've travelled that road many times so I was strategically able to slow down at the popular photo radar locations. I may be safe. I arrived at 8:55am. Just in time for my first patient at 9am.

Next time I work night shifts on the weekend, someone remind me that I must set my weekday alarm for 6:30AM not 6:30PM!!!!

I went to see the movie "The Devil Wears Prada" on Thursday night with some female family members. As the movie was starting, my grandmother leans over and says "You look JUST like her!!!" (Referring to Anne Hathaway) It was at that very moment I realized...yes, your family does love you unconditionally. I think she's on crack.

What do you think?

I am sitting here at work, on a break, and can't keep myself from yawning! I have to work 7pm-7am tonight and tomorrow night. I am really regretting agreeing to take my grandmother to Michaels shopping and then for lunch today. I SHOULD have been home sleeping to get ready for the night shifts. I ended up getting to bed at 2pm, and woke up off an on every 10 minutes until about 4pm due to the construction...then slept solid until 5:30pm when my alarm woke me up. I still have 7 1/2 hrs left of work...argh. 7am can't come soon enough!!!

The heat seams to be subsiding slightly, and I feels somewhat back to normal. (What ever you might interpret my normal to be... :-)

Foolishly Darren and I assembled and other large Ikea furniture piece on Tuesday night.....not such a good idea. (See previous blogs for a run down - it was the same thing)

Yesterday, like a fool, I attempted to go golfing at 2pm. I ended up quitting on the 5th hole and walking back to the club house. I actually felt like my brain was boiling out of my skull. At least they had Bacardi Breezers to help me cool off. I got me a chair in the shade and waiting for my golfing buddies (aka coworkers) to finish the rest of the course. We then went to "That's Aroma" on 23rd Ave and had a yummy but expensive meal. I was too hot to really eat, and got most of my Curry Chicken Penne to go....and forgot it on the table. For those who don't know me well, this happens about 95% of the time I eat out.

Today I had my grandmother, mother, sister in law, brother and family friend over for lunch. It was great. We were supposed to go out for lunch, but my darling daughter is cutting three new teeth at the moment and was far too grouchy for "the public". So I convinced everyone to come to my house. It was actually great because it made me clean up more! I am going to take some photos of the house now, maybe I'll post some here so you can see the new digs!!!

So..Paige is at the dayhome, and I am trying to clean up our house (top to bottom). It's toooo hot. Sorry to complain again about the heat. I don't think I'll get too much done it's so freaking warm. I have to take the fan into what ever room I am cleaning and face it straight on me to get anything done!

What are you doing to stay cool, while still being productive? Any tips?

It's so freaking hot in our home tonight! I am sure that the lack of wind and this dead stale air is what the problem is. I just don't like summer temperatures higher than 25 C. I am such a suck. (That is why we planned when we were having Paige to get pregnant in July, August or September because there was NO way I'd do a third trimester in this heat!!! Don't be surprised if the next child is also a spring baby. NO, we are NOT trying yet.)

On a side note, I am totally addicted to the show "Treasure Hunters". It is lame-ass semi-version of "Amazing Race"...only totally patriotic to US history. It's some interessting summer watching!! Anyone else hooked on this show?
