Was I just a sucker?
Last night I stopped at Safeway on my way home for a quick grab of a few items. This lady stopped me in the parking lot...and I heard the sob story. Left a bad relationship, 3 kids, no food, would pay me back next week.....I told her sorry, I didn't have any cash, said I felt bad for her - then went in to get my items. I couldn't stop thinking of her while I was in the store, wondered if that were me and I was down on my luck, would someone help me out?
I grabbed a Safeway gift card and put $20 on it. Then when leaving the store, I found her again in the parking lot and gave it to her. She thanked me and wanted the chance to pay me back. I simply told her to help someone else out when she's back on her feet.
After I left I wondered, was I taken for? Or did I genuinely help this lady out. Guess I'll never know.

I think you did a very selfless thing, and I hope she not only appreciates it but also pays it forward.
