Spago, Tim and Faith

It's been a busy week for us, I have been working, Paige has been a typical two year old, and I am still recovering from the WORST sinus infection of the century!!

On the 20th, Darren and I got a sitter over night, then went to Spago for a yummy Portugese dinner. After dinner we went to the Tim McGraw and Faith Hill concert. Faith was frumpy and boring, but Tim.....WOWZA!!!

Last night we got a sitter again and went to the premier of Live Free or Die Hard - it was a great movie! I thought it was a little corney and too far fetched at times, but it was mostly entertaining. Everyone seamed to really enjoy it.

An other first....

Paige has been having her fair share of "owies"...and last night was her first bleeding nose! She was outside climbing up the stairs for her slide, then fell as she was bringing her feet over to sit on her bum. She smacked her face on the slide, then smacked her face on the dirt. Poor girl had a mouthful of dirt, and a bleeding nose!

I am still feeling pretty crummy. I have been in bed pretty much from Saturday morning to Monday morning. Good thing for my fantastically wonderful husband - bringing me soup, crackers, water, ginger ale, fresh Kleenex box, magazines....and the laptop. Aside from getting up to pee or stretch my legs, I was knocked on my ass. I feel hugely better today, but still feel miserable.

I have my first prenatal appointment this morning, and this is where the doctor will do an internal exam - pap and all that good stuff. And also get my stats - weight, BP, HR, listen to my lungs....make sure I'm eating properly and taking my vitamins. From what I remember from last time, I think she'll start my pre-natal record too.

ARGH....I am sick.

Yes...I have been relatively healthy since early April, but I started to feel really crummy on my night shift last night, and it hit me hard through the day today. I have THE worst sore throat and green glowing snot. I actually headed to the doctor after calling in sick for tonight's night shift. I can hardly speak, and drinking or eating is very painful. The doctor I saw was totally useless, gave me a list of herbal immune boosters. Yes - helpful, but did not tell me anything on what I can do to actually swallow liquids to stay hydrated. At least she took a swab of my throat, so I'll know in a few days if there is something growing. I suspect even if there was, there probably wouldn't be much that would be safe for me to take now anyway. I stoped at the pharmacy on my way home and picked up half a dozen throat lozenge/numbing agents to try and get some relief. I also stopped at Tim Hortons and got some chicken noodle soup. So far the Ricola with Elderberry seams to be providing the most relief, and the soup broth was just what I needed.

So for those of you who are wondering why I am not calling you back, it's purely for the fact that I feel like shit, and cannot really speak.

I had 4 days off in a row! It was fabulous! I almost didn't come near the computer! I got some scrapbooking done, and I am proud to say I am *almost* done Paige's first year album.

I went to get a haircut yesterday, and it's short. AND Darren tells me he "hates it". So much for your spouse being supportive and kind!! Last night was a blast - Went to Gwen Stefani at Rexall. Fun times...

Worked all day. Now I am pooped! I have to work three night shifts in a row starting tomorrow night, so I am going to try and stay up late tonight. I am already falling asleep. Darren took PJ to the park - and I just want to head to bed now!!!

I am feeling better today, just really tired. Darren was a sweet heart and let me sleep in until 9:30am. It was very nice. We went shopping looking for mini-vans, and hopefully we'll find one that suits our needs before the second baby comes. I think I've decided I do not want a "new" vehical. It's a 5 yr vehical, so I think I'll just get a cheap one that will last us for the time being.

Paige is napping now, and then we are going to Auntie H and Uncle J's house for supper. Then tomorrow it's sitting at home all day - waiting for our deck package to arrive. I think I'll just read my book, and maybe scrapbook all day!!!

I am awake and this ungodly hour due to the fact that I am having "night terrors" and can't sleep. I feel sooo upset, and I don't even know why. I suspect it has to do with reading my book for an hour before falling asleep. I am reading "Nineteen Minutes" by Jodi Picoult. It is soo disturbing. It's about a high school shooting - and I'm sure that has got me all bothered.

I have been tossing and turning, can't sleep, feel upset. I am just trying to relax and get my mind off things - then I'll try and go back to sleep.

I have today off!! I actually have 4 days off - I am sooo excited. We have lots of yard prep work to do to get ready to build our deck. The materials arrive on Monday. Unfortunetly with our miscarriage scare, I am still not permitted to do any strenuous work, and that probably means every part of deck building. Poor Darren has had this whole task fall on his shoulders. I am going to try and do lots of indoor housework and cleaning so he doesn't feel like he's the only one working hard.

I might clean up the house then do some scrapbooking. I NEED to finish Paige's first Year album. I am soo far behind. I just want to finish it so I can get started on the new album, using my new supplies!! I am sooo excited. I also need to plan my first Home Gathering for the Close to My Heart company I signed up to sell. I LOVE the products, and can't wait to show my friends. I am not doing it for the money, I just want to get stuff for myself at a discount, and hopefully urge my friends to scrapbook and craft with me more often!!

Lessons

I worked a night shift last night - and I learnt a few lessons.

1. I can eat a Krispy Kreme donut in 4 bites.
2. I ate 16 bites of Krispy Kreme donut in 12 hrs (yup...you do the math).
3. Spontaneous vomiting may occur while one is driving home on the Whitemud, that may be due to an extreme amount of donut eating in previous hours, or simply due to pregnancy.

Gender?

I've really been thinking if this baby will be a girl or a boy. I was sooo certain with Paige that she was a boy, I would have bet money! Then I was wrong. I did a gender predictor online and it said I was having a girl, but I didn't believe it.

I fell like I am having a girl this time. I just did the gender predictor for now (some questions I couldn't really answer yet - kicking and positioning) but so far it says.....73% chance of a girl!!! Ha Ha Ha Ha.

I can't decided if I will find out the gender this time. The good news is I have 10 weeks to decide. Darren does not want to find out - I do. Same scenario as last time. We didn't find out, and I was soooo relieved and happy with not finding out.

I am not sure I'll be able to NOT find out. But I am even more sure that IF I find out...I'll have a hard time keeping it a secret!!

My day was pretty enjoyable. I woke up and met my friend C. and her boys at McDonalds for breakfast and let the kids run wild. Paige always loves playing with other kids, and always eats hotcakes and hashbrowns really well. I had the revelation that the "love" for McDonalds starts at a very young age. We are brought up to think of that place as a special treat, and and always have fun there - how can we not enjoy it as adults??? OMG, I am eating there again tomorrow morning with B.B. and her lovely boy J. Am I addicted?? This is terribly unhealthy.

I brought PJ home for her nap, then we both zonked out for a 2 hr nap. Ahhh.....napping is VERY nice.

I had my ultrasound and it was perfect. THE baby is perfect. I was SOO releived to hear the good news. The heartbeat was 170. Paige's heartrate was never that high, although I never heard her rate at this gestational age. After my ultrasound PJ and I went to visit the B family and they joined us for supper at Boston Pizza. (And so did Darren).

I had Clothing Club at 7pm, and it was nice to visit and chat with other mom's kid free. They told me about a thing called Empanada's at Taco Bell. I can't believe I've never heard/tried these before!! I had to stop on my way home, but to my dismay, the Taco Bell closed at 9pm. Ahhh....we'll have to try again an other day.

Goodnight Friends!
